Milestones

Three quarters of a century, in moments

  1. 1934

    ANDERMAN & RYDER LTD

    formed by H B Anderman and Mr L A Ryder. The office was based in Tooley Street, London SE1. The Company was a Provisions supplier mainly importing eggs from Europe. The Company continued until 1947. The nature of the business then changed, and the Provisions supply was dropped, and the Company concentrated on technical products mainly Ceramic components.

  2. 1947

    ANDERMAN & CO LTD

    was formed. The Company started to specialise in importing technical Ceramics for household appliances. It then expanded to laboratory porcelain, glassware, pyrometer sheaths and furnace tubes.

  3. 1953

    The Company begins to expand in 1950’s as it developed into glass laboratory equipment and soon formed a laboratory supplies business which dominated the SE region of the UK. The Company also starts to import large insulators from Siemens for the 400 KV grid system that was being built in the UK.

  4. 1954

    Anderman & Ryder started a small technical ceramics factory in East Molesey. It was producing Alumina products. All representation business passes to Anderman & Co. With the introduction of the next generation family, Stephen Anderman, the business began to take an active interest in the field of technical ceramics. Throughout the 1960’s and 70’s this business continued to grow and become a market leader employing 200 people at its peak.

  5. 1956

    Further organic growth leads the company into glass lined chemical process equipment for pharmaceuticals, chemical and petrochemical industries.

  6. 1957

    The Company takes on representation of the leading French supplier of forgings and castings for the heavy electrical industry.

  7. 1984

    Having sold the ceramics factory, the new management under Stephen Anderman formed Anderman & Co into three divisions. These were Ceramics and Laboratory, Special Metals and Chemical Plant and Projects.

  8. 1985

    Alongside the ceramics and laboratory business the company expanded the third division working in the design and fabrication of special metal alloy components for power and aerospace. During 80’s and 90’s this activity was responsible for some of the key developments and growth of the UK and European aerospace industry via the airbus consortium.

  9. 1995

    The Company takes on the representation of Hapam Holland for high voltage switchgear using Siemens Insulators. Commence sales of high voltage switchgear in UK market.

  10. 1998

    Partnership formed with E-Zone UK to launch company website earthwaterfire.com for online trading of technical ceramics and refractories to support a route to market for international expansion of the ceramics business.

  11. 2000

    Change in management as the third-generation family takes operational and ownership control of the business

  12. 2001

    Haesco established in UK for servicing of high voltage substation switchgear.

  13. 2001

    Ceramics business in France commences

  14. 2004

    Ceramics business in USA commences

  15. 2007

    Anderman & Company acquired by current owners via a management buyout.

  16. 2009

    Commence sales of High Voltage Switchgear in French market with partners SMIT/SGB group for transformers and Hapam for disconnectors.

  17. 2011

    Commencement of company operations in China. Award to Haesco of major National Grid refurbishment contract to establish the business as a tier 1 suppler in UK electricity industry

  18. 2012

    Company relocates to its new HQ in Hartlebury, UK

  19. 2013

    Global marketing and technology transfer partnership signed with Carborundum Universal India for investment casting and glass markets

  20. 2015

    Co-Operation with JIMEI (China) for basic refractory products in EU & South America Steel Industry

  21. 2017

    Participation in UK Parliamentary Business Review

  22. 2019

    Global distribution activity commences with Carborundum Universal for Abrasives products in investment casting markets
